WHERE DO HIGH OLEIC BEANS FIT IN ROBOTIC MILKING?

Soybeans are an excellent source of energy and bypass protein in dairy cow rations. High oleic soybeans are genetically modified to change the fatty acid content. Conventional soybeans contain about 25% oleic acid and 75% linoleic acid. High oleic soybeans contain about 75% Oleic acid. Oleic acid is less likely to interfere with rumen digestion than linoleic acid. Plenish is the brand name for Corteva’s high oleic soybeans, while Bayer calls theirs Vistive Gold. All soybeans should be ground and roasted for best utilization. The decision to feed roasted high oleic beans in robotic milking will depend on availability, feeding system, and cost.
